Bakehouse

We believe that good things take time. We start with the highest quality ingredients: Belgian chocolate and cocoa, fine cultured butter from Normandy, organic flour from Shipton Mill. We use no improvers or preservatives. We take no short-cuts. Slowly and carefully, we make these into baked goods that reflect our vision: that great bread should be a serious pleasure, that there are few things in life as wonderful as a fresh croissant, that the answer to life’s problems is often a piece of cake.

Why?

The PKB Bakehouse story began in 2017 when Jon and Mark, the main men behind Pot Kettle Black, decided to serve high-quality baked goods in-house. They teamed up with Manchester baker Mark Wegner and launched Pot Kettle Black’s Bakehouse in a small room next to the Barton Arcade coffee shop. Starting small with handmade doughs and croissants rolled by hand, they expanded to train apprentices and skilled bakers. As demand grew, they moved to a larger bakery on the banks of the Irwell in July 2019. Now, they have found a new home at Redbank court, a much bigger unit, where they continue to innovate classic bakes with modern takes. Their mission is to bring the best baked goods to the people of Manchester. Come, enjoy a pastry, and witness their passion at work.
