Barton Arcade
Barton Arcade, Deansgate, Manchester M3 2BW
Your nearer room. Eight minutes east across Deansgate, in the Grade II* listed arcade. Home of the Nduja Eggs.
Barton Arcade is about eight minutes from Hardman Square, east across Deansgate. All day breakfast, antipodean trained baristas and pastries from our own bakehouse. Open early enough for a proper start, and no cut off if the meeting overruns.
East along Hardman Street from Hardman Square, past the Civil Justice Centre, across Deansgate, and the arcade entrance is on your left. Eight minutes.
Spinningfields has the sharpest morning peak in the city. It is quiet until about a quarter to eight, then busy between eight and quarter past nine, and Fridays are noticeably thinner than midweek. That is the rhythm of a legal and financial district. The professional services floors at No.1 Spinningfields include PwC, Squire Patton Boggs and Fieldfisher, and we are a walk rather than a taxi from any of them.
About 8 minutes from Hardman Square, east across Deansgate.
There is no stop in Spinningfields. Deansgate-Castlefield and St Peter’s Square are each eight to ten minutes.
NCP Spinningfields on New Quay Street, M3 3BE, is the closest large car park.
About 20 minutes on foot, or a tram to St Peter’s Square and a short walk.
Barton Arcade is your nearer room, about eight minutes east across Deansgate.
Angel Gardens is roughly twenty five minutes north. For most Spinningfields mornings the arcade is the easier walk.

Angel Gardens, 1 Rochdale Road, Manchester M4 4GE
Further north on the edge of NOMA. Modern and light filled, and home of the Dirty Benedict.
House cured espresso and maple bacon, poached eggs, hollandaise, on sourdough.
Spiced nduja with a rich tomato ragu. Barton Arcade only, and the reason people come back in winter.
Olde English sausage, streaky smoked bacon, poached eggs and the rest of it. The full plate.
Scrambled tofu, vegan black pudding, smashed avocado. A proper plate, not a side order.
Poached eggs, garlic whipped yoghurt and pistachio dukkah. The one people photograph.
Croissants, seasonal danish and whatever the bakers have talked themselves into that morning.
A full vegan brekkie with scrambled tofu, vegan black pudding and smashed avocado sits on the menu every day, not as a plate with the bacon taken off. Vegetarians get the Spinach and Mushroom Benedict rather than an afterthought, gluten free is built in rather than bolted on, and there are plant milks across the whole coffee range. Tell us about allergies when you order and we will talk them through properly.
Spinningfields does lunch meetings very well. Here is somewhere eight minutes east that does mornings better.
East along Hardman Street, past the Civil Justice Centre, over Deansgate, and the arcade is on your left.
Long tables, quick service and coffee that stands up. Better than a hotel meeting room and cheaper than one.
Spinningfields mornings are sharp and short. If yours runs to eleven you still get the full menu.
We are pouring coffee and plating eggs while most of the city is still queuing for a chain.
No breakfast cut off. If you get here at eleven you get the same menu as the eight o’clock crowd.
Antipodean trained baristas, plant milks across the range, and batch brew when the room gets busy.
Half Dozen Other bakes the pastries. They come from our own team, not a supplier down the road.
A full vegan brekkie on the menu every day, not a plate with the bacon taken off.
Built into the menu rather than bolted on, and we will talk allergies through before you order.
You do not need a reservation for two. For a bigger table it helps.
Plug points, decent wifi and nobody hovering for your table at half nine.
A Grade II* listed Victorian arcade off Deansgate, and a modern light filled room on the edge of NOMA.
Review for Breakfast Manchester - Extremely friendly staff, very welcoming and accommodating. The chef went out of his way to explain the dishes and ensured we had all we needed. Best breakfast in a long time.

If you're Manchester it's a must visit for Breakfast Manchester. Food was lovely, just too much! And the staff were just so friendly, and I mean all of them. We will definitely be returning.

Had a vegan brunch in Manchester at Pot Kettle Black and it was super and it was super. I had scrambled tofu with lots of yummy flavours on a wonderful bread. The staff were very friendly and helpful staff.

We have been written up a fair bit. Here is where, in their words rather than ours.
No. Our nearest is Pot Kettle Black Barton Arcade, about eight minutes east across Deansgate. Angel Gardens is our other room, roughly twenty five minutes north.
No, and it catches people out. Deansgate-Castlefield and St Peter’s Square are the nearest, each about eight to ten minutes on foot. Most people walking to us from Spinningfields find it quicker than waiting for a tram.
Yes. There is no breakfast cut off, so an eleven o’clock arrival gets the same menu as an eight o’clock one. It is the thing people are most surprised by.
Yes, on every menu, every day. There is a full vegan brekkie rather than a plate with the bacon removed, gluten free is built into the menu, and we have plant milks across the coffee range.
Not for two. Walk in and we will find you a table. For a bigger group, or a weekend morning, booking ahead saves you standing about.
Yes. Plug points, decent wifi and nobody hovering to turn your table over at half nine.
We do. Half Dozen Other is our own bakehouse, so the croissants and danish come from our own bakers rather than a supplier.
